I had the same dillema one year ago and settled for my G6. I assure you it's a very good camera. Only DLR beat it. General gallery: http://andreimorar.zenfolio.com

Have shot with both and G6 has some advantages But I believe that G5 takes much sharper pictures. I shot the same portrait with both cameras and compared them, G5 is considerably sharper. I then printed both images 13x19 inch and it is clearly visible. The G6 has some internal tweaking to deal better with noise, which it does well, at the expense of some sharpness.

Please do this experiment yourself if you can and you will see what I mean. You're sure making me feel good! Bob

The buttons are dislocated not as good as on the G5 (that can be just my opinion, but think abou that) Canon G5, original Canon wide-lens 24 mm, Cokin filters (polarizer, tobacco, gradient), Velbon Sherpa 750n

Going from your 20D to either one, you will get frustrated with the shutter lag, but in most cases you learn to deal with it. I would imagine that you'll find a much better price on the G5, and besides, black looks cooler!

Hi Mannytkd, checked-out your site and really impressed with your pic's. I've had a G6 for a year now but to date have not used the raw feature, i think i ought to give it a try for myself, having seen your great results!
