Hi all,

So this time we have some recent shots of Bluebird fledglings from all three 2012 nestings, illustrating their moulting stages from baby fluff to adult plumage.

3rd-nester: 32 days since hatching: 14 days in the wild

2nd-nester: 75 days since hatching: 56 days in the wild

1st-nester: 106 days since hatching : 88 days in the wild

And for reference, here's a shot taken Christmas Day 2011 of one of last year's fledges who spent the Winter with us. This guy would have been about 8 months old:

I love the color palate of the last bluebird image.

You've outdone yourselves again! All are wonderful. I like the second photo very much, but am completely taken by the 2011 photograph. That is exceptional.

A beautiful, very interesting set, Kenn, showing the progression in their young lives :)

Thanks everyone,

It's harder to capture lovely images of our birds during the summer moulting time. But Lil's Robin is a great example of why we keep on shooting, even when they're in the midst of their metamorphoses.

I'll be doing a blog article on this shortly. :)

Good shooting all,

Kenn
