Help with ID?

I initially thought that this was possibly a male mosquito due to the lack of long proboscis but it lacks the fuzzy antennae I've seen in reference photos of males. It was perched on a dead plant, probably trying to dry off after a soaking rain, and it was the same size of the mosquitoes we have in this region (NW PA-USA). Any ideas? This was taken with the mp-e 65 on a 7D at X3.
