I bought a TTL cord so I can move my flash off camera, and figured I'd give it a shot, since I have an actual photo shoot (my first one by myself) coming up in a couple of weeks.

The subject was great, he didn't move.. and he also was expressionless... eh, either way, let me know..

I was moving the flash around a little, bouncing it off the ceiling, zooming it in and out (a 580exii) raising it, pointing it down as well as raising it and pointing up bouncing it off the ceiling.

Good grief! A few fewer shots would be nice. Somewhere around 5 or 6 it looks best to me.

Could it be from the room light? That's one of the issues I have, what looks good to me, sometimes isn't good. I know some of the shots are really orange. some of them aren't..

Thanks! I've been hearing and reading about the grey card, but wasn't fully understanding it.

If you bounce it remember you may pick up tints from the bounce. What was your WB option set to? Lighting also looks flat to me in most of them

I believe it's set to auto. I changed it in post.

How did you change it? Auto levels? You should get yourself some type of calibration target. Grey card or something like that. I use "Color Checker" Also if using flash your best bet is using the "flash" WB setting.

Your WB is off and they look underexposed.. If shot in RAW change your WB & Exposure in lightroom

I changed it with the cannon software.

I don't have lightroom yet.. It's on my list for near future purchases, I have an old version of PS (ps 7.0) and it honestly confuses the crap out of me.

I think if you just use the flash WB setting on the camera you will see an improvement.
