First run I was happy when using 70-200mm f2.8 IS II. Yesterday I tested 300mm f2.8 IS and one run is good but two others I hoped for lot better.

Can other folks also post their low light AI servo test results? My case light was still good, when shoting high school football I would be in much worse light. Also want to hear from folks claiming how good 5dmk3 compared to 1dmk4 is when in AI servo low light. Can you also please posts some sequence shots? Would really appreciate that.

Last one is OOF as I think he is too close to me and lens can't focus.

Run #3, canon 3000mm f2.8 IS. Needs to be better. These are smaller size, focus is soft in case of originals.

What af case did you have it set to? What af mode (single, spot, single +4, single +8, zone or all points)?

Tweaking the af settings should make your tests improve. Once I started fiddling with the settings based on what I was shooting my keeper rate increased.

I shoot Roller Derby in very low light and my 5d mkIII hits more often than my 1D mkIV. Single point, back button focus on both.

I was mainly using case 4, single + 4points.

Try case 2 and see if there is a difference. In theory, af should grab the boy and hang on better. I would
keep using 1 point plus 4 expanded

What I read Bobby is that in AI Servo using the different case settings, you need to use all 61 points so it can track.
Otherwise it won't track properly.

You start with whatever point you want and then it tracks.
Doesn't track in any other mode than all 61 points.
