My first thread. I hope some may find it useful.

I bought an old FD mount 35mm tilt shift lens and converted it to EF back a couple of years ago, but in the field, I could not come close to seeing well enough to adjust tilt/swing adequately on my 5Dc, so it sat.

Live View on the mkii brought it out of the closet and was a big improvement, but it was not until I got an Android tablet and installed dslr controller that I could begin to make full use of this lens. I got a Toshiba Thrive for its fullsized USB port, and it is just an amazing setup. With Live View on the camera lcd, I find that I can rock focus or tilt to achieve best possible focus at 10x, but I cannot simply look at a spot and tell if it is critically sharp without rocking the adjustment, which messes it up for other areas of the shot, while on the 10" tablet screen it is easy.

Thanks to everyone for your help to this lurker over the years. I hope to begin giving back.

wow, that is a very cool idea/set up...
How did you convert it?
*goes to Ebay to find an FD T/S...

For Sale, 28-135, like new, under warranty and with box, etc included. I'll even throw in a UV and a Circular Polarizer and the hood, for $325 plus shipping.

This:

shows how the lens comes apart and most of what you would need to know to convert the mount. Thanks to photobitz. I could not remove the stop screw, so I found it much easier to remove the shift knob and dismantle it that way.

If I remember, he machined a new mount so that the conversion would be reversable- I had the original pieces machined to reduce the mount distance, and epoxied (rather than screwed) a similarly thinned EOS M42 mount (I think) adapter to the reduced contact face of the old breach lock surface. The collar that it screws to must also be shortened.

I'm away from home for the summer and can't access my notes, but the arithmetic was straightforward. The machine work was done by a local machinist who just happened to have and use an old AE-1 from his dad, and he was so intrigued with the project he did it in trade for one of my photographs (of an old truck) which he hung in his shop.
