My first time trying to do predetermined shots with my son.

Not particularly happy with it, but it's the best one I have so far.

I think it is a great shot...Your son is very cute...Window lighting is very complimentary...And I like the texture added by the woven fabric...Nice job.

agreed, its fantastic. print it up and hang it on the wall ;) tho I'd crop it in abit, less window. Thats just me, depends on the print size I guess.

Better than any of my baby shots! Nice work, definitely print worthy. If I were nitpicking (and I am), I think it would look more comfortable if his body and head were... I don't know... Babies are very elastic, but in some ways he just doesn't look comfortable with his head at the angle it is to his body (though I know with five kids of my own, he's not the least bit uncomfortable, just the first impression from looking at the photo).

Yeah, it's the composition and the background that are kind of bothering me, but considering my wife won't let me take him outdoors yet, and I have no backdrops of the sort, this was the next best location I could find in the house.

That head kept moving around... had to work to get him looking at the camera! :)

it seems a nice soft blankie can work as a lovely backdrop. Its what I see in most baby portraits. Just a thought ;) using the window light is great tho.

He is beautiful! I agree about the crop. Maybe try a soft blanket draped over 2 chair backs to create a background. Should work great. I did that and thumb tacked them to the wall before I got a back drop stand! What ever works :)
