The first one has a bluish tint to it, the second one, a greenish tint.

Are these photographers color blind or something? Can't they see that the colors of these pics suck?!! Even if the color balance wasn't off, there both still so flat and dull. What is with so many photographers that like flat, dull, boring colors? I don't get it.

Photographers do it in 1/1,000th of a second...but the memory lasts forever! ;)

Because picture desks dont like oversaturated images for printing ;)

These aren't anything special. Both fairly stationary subjects, that could have been photographed with a 5DII/centre focus point, and the appropriate glass.

Because these are for print publication, some won't even be printed in color in the end. Press agencies and newspapers have pretty hard and fast rules as far as manipulation of photos go. It's not a contest of who can process the best. It comes out of the camera, it might get cropped, it might not even get sharpened, depending on the agency and then it's gone.

Who said anything about OVERsaturated images? I'm just talking about nice, bold, rich, vibrant colors! The kind that Velvia used to give! You'd think they'd sell a hell of a lot more magazines if the pictures are nice, bold, brilliant, vibrant looking rather than dull, flat, boring, almost colorless.

JMHO.

I think I got to go with Canonwhite on this one. The pics look flat and very poorly color balanced. I know that's correctable in post processing but these are poor examples of what the camera can deliver. Simply adjusting WB would have made them much better and that's an in camera adjustment.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

I'm not the OP, but these aren't supposed to be examples of what the camera can deliver. These are simply examples that the camera did deliver. The significance thereof can be discussed, but I didn't take this as some claim on how great the 1DX is.

Yea, I don't think theses are the best of the best. I just thought it was cool when i downloaded the file that it listed it as a 1d X image =)

Just thought I would share some images from the Olympics with a 1d X body.

If I find anymore that are better, I will post them. Also, I don't think we will find the best of the best from any Presswire.

We will have to wait till after the Olympics to see true colors.

I thought I read somewhere that the photog's at the olympics are not doing their own editing. They shoot a set of photos, hook up to their laptop, send the photos off to an editor, and continue shooting. Might not be the camera at all, just poor PP (or rushed - as it is the olympics.)

most events like the olympics, super bowl, ext that is true. You have card runners or you have tethered laptops.

Editors of the photos could even be setting at home in the US lol

For what it's worth, Charles Glatzer, one of the world's most well known Nature Photographers, and a long time Canon user, believes, and claims that the 1Dx does not only have the best AF of any camera he has ever used, but also has the best color, straight out of camera that he has ever seen.

I'm not in no way putting down the camera, I would just like to see more bold, rich, bright, vibrant colors from it! Enough of this "moody" artsy fartsy crap!! Life is full of rich, vibrant, bold, brilliant, eye popping colors...show them!! That's why photographers loved Velvia so much, it brought those colors out for the whole world to see!

On my standard colour profile the colours are fairly neutral. However the way it handles led lighting especially reds it really is streaks ahead of my 1diii.

It's easy to sort via internal presets however as has been said before agencies have different spec.
