hi there,

i bought a few months ago a transformer prime (+dock) because i'm planning (now in 2weeks) to visit the west coast of the US during 3weeks.

I have a Canon 7D + 450D, and thought as the dock have a USB port by connecting a HUB, i'll be able to connect an external HDD (WD my passeport) and my CF card reader, to transfert my pics from CF to HDD.

This doesn't seems possible, i can connect one device, and the TF-201 recognize it, but the 2 at the same time ... no chance.

I just bought a powered USB hub (external link) and this is not working either.

If someone has an answer for me, i looked through a lots of website, and none says it works 100% or not ...

Thanks guys

You may have to transfer them to your tablet, then to the hard drive. Or just buy more memory cards, they're pretty cheap nowadays.

I've successfully used a usb hub on a TF101, even though I didn't need to as it has a couple of usb ports. I've even tried using the hub with the "usb dongle" for those without the dock.

I've written a FREE app that you might find useful, as I wrote it to backup my photos from a 5DMK2 whilst on holiday to an external hard drive. It will also extract preview jpeg images from the CR2 files (and other RAW files) for display on your tablet.

You can find it on the Android Play store, it is called "Android Photo Backup" by Mars Software.
https://play.google.com …ps/details?id=org.rms.apb (external link)

If you search for "org.rms" you will find all 3 of my apps.

Any questions, then fire away. My email address in available on the Play Store pages or at www.marssoft.co.uk (external link)

Hope you find this info useful,
Matthew

Thanks Matthew, ur Apps seems to be nice,
i'll check it out tomorrow.

Regarding USB port, yes i think you can plug 2 devices on Tf101 as it has 2 native USB port on the dock. but Asus remove 1 usb host on the TF201!!!
anyway i just buy a 32Gb sd card and will transfert from CF to SD and then to HDD ... Funny as !!!

Cheers ;)

If you can try a different usb hub, then you should be able to get both (card reader and hard drive) plugged in at the same time. A friend of mine has tried this with his prime.

Hey,

i use this kind (external link)of USB hub which is powered.

when i plug the card reader alone, its working, when i plug the HDD (western digital my passeport) alone, it's working, but when i plug both of the devices, only the first one is recognize.

I found some thread where lots of ppl complain about this, and the onlysolution i found was to root the tf201 ... i guess i'll check this after my holidays !!!

Thanks again !!

I was thinking of getting an Infinity later, might have to check that it doesn't have the same limitation. Obvious only a software problem. Very strange.
