do they have pricing yet? see any real world testing?

i'd be nice to have a flash on camera, and still trigger the other in ETTL as well as change it to manual mode. we'll see if it supports it though.

Currently im running a cheap trigger system out the PC sync port as well as the flash on camera, but where's the fun in that!

The only listing I have seen was wholesale US$100 each in lots of 10.

Edited for clarity - A flash can be used on the transmitter on the camera, but the hotshoe is not actually a pass-through between camera and flash. It cannot be. How can the camera have two controlling masters? These are not dumb triggers - they are computer systems, They control the camera. Not some other device like a Speedlite. You cannot set a flash to Master and hope to use Canon's Wireless/IR protocols in parallel.

A Speedlite or YN flash can be used on the camera-mounted controller, as just another unit in Group A, complying with all Group A remote settings. The flash is part of the YN-622 system, and not an independent unit. Except...

There are two YN operating modes - Remote (like the Kings) and Mixed. Mixed mode works with all flashes in flash priority. The individual manual flash settings take precedence. Remote control may not be available: testing will determine the nature of the "mix".

Will these things work with an SX1 and SX20 series cameras?

They are designed as intelligent controllers to work with Canon EOS DSLRs with flash control menus.

They will work with a much reduced set of functions with other EOS DSLRs.

They may work with other cameras as simple dumb triggers, but why buy what you cannot use? One reason may be to have one set of triggers to work on both environments. I have yet to read any independent testing.

For the adventurous, the YN-622C is now listed on eBay at US$110 per pair, free std shipping from Shanghai, ship in 1 bus. day.

Apart from an English manual, there are no accessories. Expect to need non-shorting mini-feet or clamps or Frio clips, 4 alkaline batteries, screwlock PC-sync cables for strobes or dumb hotshoe flashes.

I have seen no reviews yet, so actual performance, manufacturing quality and compatibility are yet to be tested.

Some of the listed improvements over the Kings I like include remote control/mixed modes, zoom logic, maintaining previous session settings, test button facilities, on-transmitter flash, AF beam logic, E-TTL ratios and FEC, 550EX compatibility, auto-tx/rx (no tx backup unit required). And then there is the low cost...

so if Im understanding the way these work is that they trick your flash into thinking its mounted onto the camera, is this correct? If so, would any ETTl flash work even those that cannot do wireless ETTL?

It is more like adding in another computer between the camera's cpu, and the flash's cpu, and the YN-622 computer controls the other two.

The Pixel King was the first in this category of triggers - triggers that interface with and implement Canon facilities. The Phottix Odin also interfaces, but substitutes its own control routines which enables it to do things that Canon has not implemented.

I like the Pixel/YN approach as it means that I can use Canon Wireless and the Pixel/YN controllers in precisely the same way - via Canon menus.

Almost any hotshoe flash can be used, but the range of capabilities depends on camera model and flash model.
