Yongnuo YN-622C Controller Trigger

Hi guys, sorry if this has been mentioned, but I haven't trawled through all 107 pages of this thread...

I have 4x RF-603s now, which are all well and dandy, however, pass-through E-TTL would be nice. I'm not desperate for all-round E-TTL, therefore, could someone please tell me - is it possible to use pass-through E-TTL on the 622, whilst triggering the 603s... or can the 622s not talk to the 603s?

622's don't talk to 603s.

You can put a 603 trigger on top of a 622 on top of your camera and trigger both, however.

Great, thank you - that's all I needed to know! Obviously a 603 on top of the 622 will not give me on-board E-TTL either, but it would mean I have slightly more control than I do now...

Maybe I should have Camera -> 622 -> 603 -> 622 -> Flash.... that way I could trigger the other flashes with the 603, and still have on-board E-TTL communication via the two 622s (I am of course joking, but that would be a crazy amount of toys on the hot shoe!)

Crazy as it sounds, if you put the second 622 and flash on a bracket with the first 622 and 603 in the hot shoe it would work. Lots of stuff. Probably easier to have the ETTL flash in the hotshoe and connect the 603 to camera via PC cord.

I'm not looking for any troubleshooting help but operation with the 380EX is at best erratic. Gross over/under exposure used remotely or with E-TTL pass-through and inability to use FEL.

Operation with the 430EX II and 580EX II is normal. I have got a few shots where exposure was as expected but for the majority, my 380 is not usable. It does function normally in the hot shoe without the 622.

If you're just after the TTL pass through and manual triggering you're probably better of spending the money on Phottix Strato II. The YN-622 would allow remote manual control though and HSS.

Regarding stacking the 603 on top, they have a fairly low sync speed already so any combination of stacking is going to add to that. I'm not actually sure if you can fire the 603 via the cameras PC sync port, but that would be the way to do it without adding further delays (and leave the pass though hotshoe free for a flash).

I was using the Neewer C-300DI strobe/monolights, not 430ex.

So full manual on the lights (2 or 3 strobes, can't recall which ones were on on each pic as I was testing them out), one on BD and other two fill.

Now I look the pic more, I overdid the smoothing on LR, face looks too flat. First time with BD, need to shoot more and learn.

I just got four of these. I am shocked at their versatility and price. I don't shoot eTTL, but 45 bucks a transciever, I don't have to open up my modifiers to change the power settings, and I don't have to worry about a max sync speed of 1/160. These are golden.

I just wish I didn't just sell my 430EX. I thought I was going to order two dumb YongNuo 560 for the price I sold my 430. Now I will just get a YN565.

Hey guys, was thinking about ettl triggers....right now have the 603`s. I have a 560 and 430exii. I always shoot manual flash because that's all I can do. Was thinking of adding a 3rd speedlite to my collection tho, such as a 580exii.

Having said all that, would the 622`s work for me ettl wise? I'm thinking the 622 would be hooked up to my hot shoe and 580, the 580 would then trigger the 480exii and 560. Both would have to be in slave I'm assuming.

Wow it gets serious and complicated once u start adding more gear.

And you can't have a 580 being both a slave and a master, ie being a slave to the camera, but also being another master to external flash units (unless you are doing something like dumb optical triggering).

Your 622 becomes the master, and triggers all the flashes. The flash on the camera, should you choose to put one there, just becomes another remote flash, which just happens to be on camera and triggered via the hotshoe.

So you'd need a 622 on the camera as the master transmitter, and 622's on each of your off-camera remote flashes. That's the best way to do it.

Ya sorry, I didn't mean the 580 in the hot shoe even though that's what I said or appeared to say. I meant just the trigger in the hot shoe, and the receiver bit on the 580 in an umbrella for example. Then I would think the 580 could trigger the 480 for example or does it not work like that? Or would I need another receiver on the 480?

Just trying to think through it. For example now.... My 603`s can fire off my 480 as the master and then my 560 is setup as a slave so it gets automatically triggered once my 480 fires.

Well, what a fun day I've had! Not only did I pick up an awesome 5D Mkii locally, but came home to find the 4 - YN622c's I ordered had arrived in the mail! It's like a second xmas!...I do however have a sizeable amount of light reading to wrap my head around...

Guys i'm sorry i know this has been discussed and asked several times but there's so many page to scan so please pardon me for asking this again.

I can't get my 5d mark iii + yn-622c + 430ex ii work.

what settings i need to do?please help.
