I can't get my 5d mark iii + yn-622c + 430ex ii work.

First step - put alkaline batteries in the 622's. Do they power up, lights on etc?

Assuming they power up, turn them off, put one on the camera's hotshoe. Mount the flash on the other one. Turn everything on, and half pres the shutter (this transmits settings to the flash) and take a pic. Does the flash fire?

If not, make sure the transmitter and receiver are set to the same channel (push the channel button on each until just the first channel light is lit - this is channel 1).

If still not firing, check that external flash firing is not turned off in your camera's flash control menu. There's not really much else to check than that, really...

I was wondering the same couple weeks ago, and if you zoom in the pics on the 622, they read "622C" also, so I think it's the same.

Someone else can confirm.

YN includes the C because they are also getting a Nikon version ready which will probably have an N. :-)

Right now C is all that are available so Amazon may be short cutting. :-)

I just did a test to confirm what I was confident would work; 600EX-RT on YN-622 in one group. Di866 MkII on YN-622 in another group. Second 600EX-RT on YN-622 in a third group. All controlled via the camera as manual speedlites via the camera menu.

Reason for the test was to confirm operation. Adding YN-622s and YN-565EX speedlites is much less expensive than adding 600EXs to build up the number of speedlites available for some projects. i.e. architecture. The Di866 is a great unit but more expensive than the YNs. The remote manual capability is what prompted the test.

The Sony NEX-6 has a standard ISO hot shoe. Any idea if the triggers would fire Canon speedlites in full manual? Or any reason I shouldn't try it?

Thanks

I surmise that in theory, it ought to work using just the centre & edge contacts. However, I'd very seriously hesitate to try it; just in case.

Hi guys just wanted to say thanks to all the hard work and info posted. Ordered 2 sets of the YN-622C's and a YN-568EX. You guys made my decision very easy for this purchase.

The YN-622C can be used on a Nikon camera to fire Nikon Speedlights. I expect that your situation would also work. The 622 is intelligent, and behaves nicely, so I would try it.

Fantastic, I will give it a go when the camera arrives next week.

What is the maximum trigger voltage the YN-622 rated to handle? I have a couple of old flashes left over from film days that have a 110v (Vivitar 283) trigger.

Do not put the flash to the hot shoe of YN-622C! He goes down.
But you can connect flash and transceiver by using PC-sync port of trigger. It's safe.
