That sounds like intermittent breaks in contacts on one or more osd the 5 pins. Cleaning both hotshoe and hotfoot fittings can help. The problem often qoes away as regular use polishes off oils, etc. (Keep your hands of the flash foot!)

Simple triggers usually do not use the data flows on the minor pins, so the problem does not appear. Proper insertion and clamping are essential.

Thanks, I'll bear that mind and see if there's something I can do to make it go away. Contacts are good generally and I don't handle them, but I'll give them a clean and pay a bit more attention - thanks for the tip!

Turns out a gripped 7D + 622 + 580exII + 70-200 2.8 IS MK2 is BLOODY HEAVY! Who knew?!!

Sorry for digressing the technical aspects, but I have a quick question. I have a 6D, an 420EX and an 430EX II. If I were to pick up a third speedlite and 3 of the Yongnuo triggers, could I put a trigger both the 420 and 430, mount the 3rd trigger on my 6D, and put the 3rd speedlite atop the camera-mounted trigger and operate it straight through? My goal is to have a camera-mounted flash and still trigger two more speedlites and hopefully only have to purchase the 3 triggers (and use my friends extra speedlite).

Again, sorry for backstepping from the current discussion, but I thumbed through quite a few pages and couldn't find a definitive answer from all the other user experiences listed. Thanks.

Well, I used the 622 triggers yesterday at a wedding, first event usage. My only problem was some issues with the on-camera flash in eTTL mode. It seemed to occasionally produce an 'over-exposure', about one shot in 10, and in one stretch it was even more frequent, almost one in five (14 shots out of 78). I finally switched the on-camera flash to a manual setting, everything worked perfectly after that (was using 'mix' mode for the last sequence of 78 shots). The on-camera flash that was producing the overexposed shots is my 580exII, which has been an extremely reliable flash that has never given me any problems at all. I'll experiment some more with it, but it does appear to me that the 'pass-through' to the on-camera flash isn't quite as consistent as just having the flash mounted onto the camera directly. When I had everything in manual settings, it worked flawlessly, and it's nice to have total control over the manual power settings from the camera. In all, I'm satisfied with it as it appears to work, for now. I switched from using Radio Popper units (the original P1 units, which had about a 90% success rate of firing the off-camera flashes), but eventually I think I'll be upgrading to the 600ex-RT flashes, when I'm able to afford them. Until then, the YN622 seem to be very serviceable, with a little bit of instability in eTTL mode, perhaps.

Yes, it should not matter if you are using one flash or 15 as long as all are using a 622c then all will be Able to do HSS

On a side not, I finally got a set of 622c's and so far I am loving them. The plastic does feel a little weak (well light) to me but functionally they are amazing. Can't wait to play with them a lot more and try some off camera HSS outside to see how capable the YN568 is in HSS outdoors (and see if I need to pick up a few more yn568's and 622c's to fight with the sun)

I found the AF assist light works really well compared to the older models which only had that single led and no pattern. I don't mind the af assist light only covering the center point since I use it almost exclusively on my 5d2 and it's the most sensitive af point anyway.

No.

Just use a spare yn622 and press the test button on that while metering. All fire at the relevant level.

I think I asked about this back on page 1 or so.

Yes. A number offer odd numbers of units, and others give a good price on 3 or 5, etc if you ask.

Or, you can buy a spare - its useful for test triggering from a hand-held unit.

Someone here rigged up a unit for an L-758DR from a YN-602-TX board, once. I asked on speedlights.net if YN were planning on creating their version of an RT-2 [just idle curiosity. I don't own a Sekonic meter], and whoever posts for YN there responded with:

HI,Inkista
Thank you for your attention to YN products. Such kind of product is not on our program schedule for year 2013.
However, I will delivery your idea to our R&D team. Thank you !

So, maybe there's hope. :)
