What is the limit on number of 622 that can be run from a single camera?

Your budget! ;)

If you have a type A camera (2006 or later) and a Mark II Speedlite or full compatible flash, then:

Camera + 622 ~> 622 + flash will give full remote control (by camera) of E-TTL or Manual levels.

See the guide in my signature below.

I must admit that I found some of Dan's comments a little puzzling, and will be posting further about some aspects.

thanks for this... my 622c is on its way, by next week... I already have a 568EX.. hopefully I can get the external flash to fire with my manual mode settings using the 622c, since I cant get it to fire in manual mode when the flash is in the hot shoe.

Your guide helps a lot, thanks!!

After weeks of deliberation and checking across the internet I decided to get YN622c. I picked up 2 sets from a local store in Singapore. They seem to be working fine with the setup I have now. I used one on my camera and the remaining three on my strobes
1. Canon 430EX
2. YN-568EX
3. Jinbei Discovery DC-600

The basic stuff seems to be working fine with the HSS working well with the speedlites. With the Jinbei there needs some adjustment needed in post (as expected). But overall a value for money buy!

The build quality is not very consistent as the PC Sync port in one of the piece is defective. I'll just have to exchange that at the store (thankfully I did not buy online to save this hassle!).

I'm looking forward to using them this weekend and get some good shots :)

PS: Thanks to CliveyBoy for all the details in this thread and iiituner for helping with some specific info

Interesting you should say that. I've just had to fix a problem with the PC socket on one of mine. Owing to a snug-fitting (ie very tight) plug on one lead, I pushed the PC connector deep into the threaded socket.

It's a slight flaw in the design of the part (probably bought in from another supplier and simply installed by Yongnuo - I doubt that the connector is made in-house). Easy 20 second fix with just thumbnails once the label over the central case screw is removed (iso-propyl alcohol does it cleanly as it's a micro-membrane security label not paper-based). Yes, I almost certainly voided the warranty but the alternative would have been US$29 postage back to China. At that rate, it's almost cheaper to buy a replacement!

The YN-568ex has a standard [EDIT] 2.5mm audio socket instead of the PC sync port. So hopefully this is the last of the PC ports!

I think it'll probably be a decade or more before PC synch sockets/plugs become uncommon, simply because of the legacy problem - there are a huge number of cameras which still have that as the only way of nailing flash and camera together.

Aside from the previously mentioned little snag - and this was at least as much my fault as the maker's - the only problem I've ever had in over 50 years was when one student once stood on a studio synch cable and broke the wires internally. But the plug/socket was/still is perfect, I just trimmed the cable and resoldered the plug . Anyone who has ever taught will know how careless students can be with loan gear so I have real difficulty understanding why the antipathy towards the PC plug. It would appear that in the cases I've read about, it's been the cable which has failed rather than the PC connection.

So; what is it that you folks know which I don't? It can't be that you're all violent with your gear, so what's the answer?

As iituner says, it is a 2.5mm MONO phono socket. (Headphones? - perhaps to better hear the audible feedback that can be turned on with the YN568EX.)

The centre pin of the PC-sync has a cone shape at the bottom. I presume that it is there to provide a better contact for plugs that have spread a little. This is a major problem with PC-sync cables - contact depends upon a tight clamp of a non-spring metal. Whereas the phono sockets use spring contacts which do not need to retain precise dimensions.

Unfortunately, the soldering of the leads from PC-syn to circuit board is a high-risk point and a potential problem may be missed by QC.

Exactly. YN are planning to release an official 1-unit package before the end of the year, when they catch up with current demand.

Just for the record;

Ordered: Sept. 27th, 2012
ebay: thephotogadget
shipping option: $8.00
Delivery: October 17th, 2012 :D

Pretty well packaged. I gave them a little shake, nothing seems loose.

Not bad, thought it might be quicker, but with the Chinese holidays I guess it might have been delayed some.

For comparison: I ordered some stuff from DX on the 27th, and 1/2 the order arrived yesterday, free shipping. The other 1/2 of the order apparently did not leave the country until Oct. 12th, so I'm not sure when it will arrive.

Now I need to charge some batteries, or use some Alkaline. I may go Alkalines for the initial testing.

I've been watching some different YN flashes and prices appear to be rising at some places; I think it's because of these units that make them more useful.

For those folks whom ordered triggers in middle of september from Photogadget and still waiting for them (I got this answer for my attendance on late delivery - my triggers delivery status is "2012.09.19 Item accepted".):

"Unfortunately, due to Chinese party 18th conference in Beijing (specially) and Chinese national holiday plus moon festival for Sep 30th to Oct 8th, custom has enhanced security which has impacted all packages, packages to Ukraine, Greece, Kazakhstan, Norway, Czech etc has all stuck in Beijing, we have to wait until it is over.

We are sincerely sorry for this but it is out of our control. Hope you can kindly wait with patience."

that's not as bad as this..
I've been tracking my package it should have arrived today.. This after I check again on the tracking and see the package has been marked "unable to deliver" a business next door moved and has their mail forwarded and the post office thought it was me. I call to see if I can pick it up. and I"m told that since it was from china they can't forward it and it's been sent back. It took a while to explain that none of my mail should be forwarded since I'm there. But sadly they were too "efficient" and sent it back to china.
Vent over

OMG!! That's terrible. Man I'd be so upset, and I don't get upset too easily... but I guess errors like this do 'trigger' something in me... since they sent it back in error, I would think you must have some recourse... I think I would start calling supervisors... but then again... you want to be on good terms with your local postal workers. I'm lucky mine have been really great.

I hope you get it all settled soon.

Clive: Ah, we've got at cross-purposes. The problem I had wasn't soldering but physical. The white nylon insulating slug and central contact tube in the centre of the PC socket on the YN622C pushed back into the body of the trigger because of an over-tight PC plug. I know I shouldn't have pushed so hard - well, I know now that I shouldn't.
If the outer contact tube had the end inside the trigger wrapped over the nylon slug a little, it would have prevented the incident (as would a more delicate touch by me). But that, of course, would be an extra step in the making of the PC socket and the (small) machining cost would probably have far exceeded the true value. Serves me right for using a modern, plastic-fantastic lead which I happened to pick up first rather than my trusty Rowi metal ones from the 1970s. I'm slowly losing these for one reason or another but they have been absolutely perfect/flawless for 40+ years now - astoundingly good value for something costing 9/3d (44 GB pence, US$0.70, NZ$0.86).

I assume that your mention of a 'cone shape at the bottom' refers to the proximal end of the pin rather than the distal. I can't see this on any of mine, either ancient or modern, but I haven't dissected a plastic-fantastic plug so wouldn't really know about those. At a guess, I'd think it was probably for centreing the pin and marginally increasing contact area with sloppy fit plugs. The outside sleeve is, of course, split and provides a slight spring for tight contact - if these spread, it's the job of a moment to reshape them so sloppy plugs shouldn't be necessary.

As this style of synchronising connection was originally devised to mount on the rim of a leaf shutter, space was severely at a premium and the design has proved it's worth for over half a century. The 2.5mm mono plug requires vastly more installation room, albeit with commensurately increased contact area and a huge amount more idiot-proofing against heavy-handedness. Perhaps I ought to swap, in light of recent less than delicate manipulations on my part

"To err is human; to forgive, divine" (Alexander Pope 1688-1744). To paraphrase Dirty Harry, "Are you feeling divine?". I certainly wouldn't be. Charge the earth, provide a miserable service, misdeliver stuff, return to China because you had the audacity not to be there at the wrong address then you have to suffer a delay till the next pathetic effort - sounds a bit like Royal Snail in the UK. I think I'd be a little peeved.

Somewhat related, but a question about Canon's flash menu - in flash mode: Manual, you can still set ratios i.e. for A:B you have 1:3 but why are there also manual power settings for each flash? Wouldn't that override the ratio?
