I finally got it off with a small file. It was just painfully difficult to get off...lol

Huh - a file? Guess you must bite your nails or something. The bad news (well, for some) is that there is also a protective film of identical material over the whole of the top plate. Scratch at the corner with a thumbnail, even a bitten one :D.

Phil ǁ Kershaw Soho Reflex: 4¼" Ross Xpres, 6½" Aldis, Super XX/ABC Pyro in 24 DDS, HP3/Meritol Metol in RFH, Johnson 'Scales' brand flash powder. Kodak Duo Six-20/Verichrome Pan. Other odd bits over the decades, simply to get the job done - not merely to polish and brag about cos I'm too mean to buy the polish!

I found that out shortly after, but yeah I keep nails short since 99% of my life is behind a keyboard.

To get back on topic, these triggers rock, I was well beyond the 100 meter range and they fired every time. Time to order another transceiver :)

Leave it on, it won't hurt and gives additional protection.

I suspect that the 6D and the 5DIII are pretty much the same as far as the 622 is concerned.

Would be interesting to have it confirmed.

The 5DIII has been confirmed as passing compatibility tests.

The 6D has not yet been tested.

Until a user becomes proficient in using the 622s, "it works" is not a sufficient guide. :(

strange question, i just got an OMD EM5, can I use the yn-622 to dumb-fire compatible flashes? I probably need something from flashzebra don't I ... I thought since I have the yn-622 didn't want to waste $ on a different set.

What a fab thread, thanks CliveBoy!!
I was about to buy the st-e2 but found this thread and think i should be having a change of course!!
i have a couple of questions though that hopefully someone may be able to answer. CliveBoy i have read your manual but still not sureon these q's
i have a a 40D a nissin 866mk2 and a 430ex i see that the 430ex only has partial compatability, does this mean i wont be able to use my kit with ettl ratios? Can i control the 430ex from the camera at all or would all adjustments be from the flash only, if so then maybe the st-e2 is a better option for my needs/kit?
Thanks

Hello guys, this is my first post on photography-on-the.net forum :)
I'm from Italy and I'm a young professional photographer (28yo).
So I'm totally new to this forum, but I've found many useful information here, so I've decided to give my contribution.
I own a 7d and a 5d mark I, and I'm using Phottix Strato II actually to trigger my 2 flashes, Metz 50 AF-1.
So I've decided to upgrade my triggers with e-ttl model and, the most interesting feature to me, the FP or HSS.
Next year (i think on April) I'll buy Phottix Odin for sure, I think its the best and reliable wireless triggering solution.
But for now I've choosen the YN 622 ;)
I've ordered them yesterday, I think the will be delivered on Thuesday or Wednesday.
So I'll let you know about Metz 50 AF-1 compatibility, hoping this would help any other users using these flashes.

thanks amphoto11!
I'm not a user of Metz, but I really wonder what is the level of compatibility METZ flashes.
There is a very big chance is that the 50AF-1 is fully compatible.
We will wait for news from you :)

Glad the info is helpul! BTW version 3 of The Other Guide makes the groupings clearer, I hope.

You will be able to use ETTL, FEC and Ratios from your camera menus. If you want to set manual powers with the 430EX, you will need to do it on-flash.

The YN-622C will give you all that the ST-E2 provides, and more. It will work in situations that the ST-E2 will not handle.

Sorry, can't tell you, but It should work, since the sync signal is the same on all iso-compatible hotshoes. I use the same RF-602s on my Canons and my Panasonic DMC-G3.

The big question is whether TTL/HSS will work with a TTL-capable flash, like an FL-36, FL-50, or FL-600. The Canon and (micro) four-thirds hotshoes have identical contact/pin placement--it's just that the (micro) four-thirds hotshoe has one less TTL pin/contact. I've been told that a Canon TTL cable should work with mft gear, but have no TTL mft flash to test this statement with my G3. And it's not like the G3 has menus for camera commanding, other than FEC.

Seriously doubt it. The YN-560ii has none of the TTL pins needed to communicate with the camera menus. There's only the single sync signal pin on the shoe.

It cannot be controlled from the camera's menus. It is a YN-622 class 4 flash - No ETTL provided; Flash-set manual levels; Sync ony, 1st curtain only. Unless... See The Other Guide (P.5) - link in signature below.
