Loving my new MP-E 65 mm and spent much of the weekend practicing. I must say that this has to be one of the most physically taxing forms of photography. I do a lot of avian photography and while lugging around the 500mm, body and tripod is strenuous it is nothing compared to holding my macro set up (7D, 65 mm, RRS shape shifter flash bracket and diffused 580 EX II) while bending or crouching in a usually contorted position waiting for the tiny subject to turn my way or for the oh-so-subtle breeze to finally die down. Oh, how I long for an eye level subject
on a breeze-free day!
Here are a couple of shots of what I believe is a robber fly.
