So I just won a 5D MKII on Ebay and it has just had a brand new shutter installed and the seller says the paper cannon sent back says it now has 19 shutter clicks. So when you get a new shutter will Eos info confirm the new shutter and it's new count? Also, the web site posted here will also confirm the new count? here is the auction I just won. I want to confirm that i am getting a brand new shutter and hoping that the shutter count programs will recognize the new shutter count.

http://www.ebay.com …_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 (external link)

Hoping you guys will help me confirm that everything is legit and that Canon has completely refurbished this boidy with new shutter and all.

Thanks for any help. I am spending the money that I got from an insurance claim from my Mother's passing last year and won't have any money in the fiture to cover a mistake as i am a poor musician for a living so I have to confirm that this body is exactly as the seller says. Does the auction look legit and will the shutter programs confirm a new shutter with the proper count?

Thanks

Also, could someone confirm that this tape over the shutter is how Canon would send the camera back to the owner? Anyone who has had a shutter replaced, is this how your body was when you received it back?

Just hoping some guys with experience will give the auction the once over and will help me confirm it is what the seller says it is. Please read the description and tell me if all sounds right and that it is reasonable that Canon would have done all this and things would have went this way. As i said before, this is money that comes from my beloved mother and it's all I can spend of the settlement as the rest is going for bills and to my kids. I want to make sure what I get for my own enjoyment is spent on something good that I can enjoy for a long time.

Thanks again for any help

Can anyone confirm that a new shutter will show the new count in eosinfo or at this site
http://eoscount.com/ (external link)

really need help as i haven't paid for this camera yet and can still back out if things aren't right. I am supposed to pay tomorrow and hate the thought of going through hell with returns and shipping and all that.

I desperately need rto know if eosinfo or that web site will show the new shutter count. I can simply cancel the transaction so he won't get a sales fee and I can buy a new one for 1995 or a new 7D so i don't have to do this deal if I cannot be assured that this shutter and camera have been refurbished.

I think Canon resets the shutter count when you get a shutter replaced, just like if it were a refurbished model.

P.S. Give a thread more than an hour for people to reply

If I'm thinking correctly, the programs will take in account the TOTAL number since Canon doesn't reset the count. I would ask for a RAW file of some sort and you can check the count from that.

PS: I had a 1D Mark II that showed almost 250k in a program, EXIF from LR shows about 48k.

Oh man, two different opinions, still confused and have to pay for this today. I can still back out, I can even add $350 and get a new Mark II if I want.

So as long as I have the paper from Canon with the serial number that is the same as on the bottom plate and in the camera software then there is no way he could have switched the body or something?

It just seems strange that Canon would put new body panels and grip and such, he doesn't say why they would do that, only that they did and this raises a red flag to me, as if he could be the one who changed the serial plate on the bottom or something.

Why does it even matter? If it has a new shutter, who really cares about the number? I could see it mattering if you were selling it, but if you have the receipt for the work, it's a moot point in my view.

Canon agreed to put a totally new body on the camera, so the top plate, back plate, and grip have been totally replaced (I didn't even take the plastic protection off the top plate and shutter button as you can see from the pictures).

I find this very strange

Who would ever leave the plastic on the top unless you were some eccentric. A professional photog like they claim to be would never do that. It also seems really fishy that they replaced the body. I have never heard of that unless the body was cracked or damaged.

In case you didn't notice the seller has positive feedback from two previous camera sales.

If it were me, I think that I would just go ahead and opt for the new one...Just to put my mind at ease.

lol, that's exactly what I just did. Purchased a brand new one with full uSA Canon warranty from Buydig, 25 dollars off and they gave me a new 16gb CF card and free shipping, all for 1,959 dollars. 300 more dollars and I get all new with box and all.

The Ebay seller had no box, couldn't find the strap, no cables, no manuals, and the camera was made in 2009. I mean, the focus motor, buttons, lights had all been used for over 150k shots for years, so I just felt that 300 more dollars was worth getting a Canon usa warranty with a new battery and new CF card and all items in a new box.

I just emailed the seller and told him I was soory and to cancel the transaction and I would sign off and he wouldn't have to pay any fees or anything. I caught it at the end of the auction so he would have had to relist it anyway with no other bidders.

Buydig said on one part of my purchase that I will get free overnight shipping, and in another it says 2 to 3 days, so I'm not sure but I may be getting it tomorrow.

I hate to lose the 300 extra, but man does it feel nice knowing I am getting a brand new body with box and all contents and full USA Warranty. Worth the extra 300 I think

WOOOO I am now the proud owner of a FF, new 5d MK II

Canon does not reset the shutter on refurbs. Many people report having a few thousand actuations.

I dropped one of my cameras in the past to where it broke the mirror. Since there were glass shards in the shutter box they had to replace everything. I came back with the same number of actuations even with a new shutter. I don't think they reset them at all.
