Hey all. This past Sunday I was doing nothing and the clouds were looking sweet so I took the opportunity to set up my camera on my deck and record a timelapse video. I've only done a few of these so its nothing special but I thought it was cool so I thought Id share it.

Edit: I updated the link to a version that has music and is now on youtube. It honestly looks better to me in HD on Youtube than it does on Flickr in HD.

There are a few times I messed with the exposure on some images whether in camera or in Lightroom so it changes in a few spots. There is also a gap of about a half hour in there too.

I also put together a composite star trail image from the batch because who doesn't like a star trail shot? :)
I for one am not a fan of all the air traffic but some poeple love it. Still cool though!

Just over 3,000 shots. My T1i pulled through very well. Looks like it got pretty warm though as I can see a few hot pixels in the still.

I have a battery grip for my T1i. Two batteries discharged to to about 50%. Hard to really tell though because the T1i does not give a percentage value.

Very cool!

Did you use an intervalmeter?

How frequently were photos taken?

What is the trick with the composite image? I want to shoot the meteor shower in august 11-13 and do something similar. Do you just stack a bunch of opaque layers onto a solid one in photoshop?

Yes being 40 miles from New York City doesn't get you away from it!

Thanks! Yes I used a cheap Chinese brand intervalometer.
Set the camera to Av. Se the remote to take a photo every 7 seconds.

I assume you are referring to the star trails? No PS needed really. It can be done in PS but I have never tried it. I use a program called StarTrails which will stack the photos for you and it does an excellent job. It is free and I highly recommend it! In this case I wasn't happy with the end result's foreground so afterwards I did throw it into PS and used a layer mask to place a foreground from one of the many photos on top of the final stacked shot. I did a ****ty job with the painting as can be seen in the tree line but I wasn't going for perfection.

Anyway thanks everyone! I put up a new one with some music which I should have just done to begin with.
