I have a 2x mkiii and a 1.4 mkii since these won't stack together which 1.4 can I get that will. Sounds silly but I want to stack my 1.4 and 2x for moon and sun photos.

My Sigma 1.4 fits into the back of my Sigma 2x. I've never tried shooting with the combo though.

I stacked my 2X III with my Kenko 1.4X and it worked. I took a photo of Jupiter and you could actually see three moons resolved quite nicely as pinpoints.

Ok cool I couldnt remember if it was the kenko ones.

The sigma may stack with other sigmas, it won't with the canons.

iv staked the sigmas TC on my Canon 70-200 and it works....Kinda.

the AF is very slow and steppy, and the image quality is pretty bad.

The Sigmas stack if you attach the 1.4X to the camera and the 2X to the lens. I was shooting some test shots a few days ago with a 200mm f/2.8L. Here's a shot taken with the TCs stacked on a 7D.

You should do just fine using the 70-200 MKII or 300/f2.8 stacking the TC`s. No substitute for a bare lens or just an added 1.4 but you might be surprised and it is fun to experiment.

Below are some stacked extender tests using the 70-200/f2.8 MKII :

How did you stack them. I have a canon 1.4, a sigma 1.4 and a canon 2x but none of them will physically fit to each other.

I actually sold my 300 and got the 500, just haven't updated my sig yet. This was more just for fun. I figured a good way to get some extra reach for moon shots.

I don't have Canon TCs, but the Sigmas will stack if you attach the 1.4X to the camera side and the 2X to the lens side.
Here's an actual shot taken with a 30D, 100-400 and the Sigmas stacked.

I wonder how bad the IQ can be with that much glass stacked? ;)

Here is a moon picture that I took a while back with sigma EX 50-500mm and both the Sigma 1.4x and 2x teleconverters at 1400mm f/18 (wide open) on my Rebel XT.

https://photography-on-the.net …php?p=9678334&postcount=7

The big problem is keeping the camera and lens really still and the problem that the moon is a moving subject. I would like to have stopped down a little but already the shot was suffering from motion blur.

I have.. If I remember, it only fits one way. TC reports 4.0 with the 70-200. Works- manual focus or liveview. Definitely the way to get a bit closer without spending the entire Wayne fortune.

I don't think I have tried it with the 50-500- one TC- yes- two - not yet.. Tripod sucks- when you get out there at those extreme focal lengths- you need a smoother tripod.
