I searched before posting because I don't want to make a repost!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Noticed a lot of people have problem PLAYING & EDITING VIDEO from 5D2.
That is not my case. My computer is so powerful I can probably edit 3 movies at the same time with photoshop running and surfing the net and downloading a movie.

When editing and viewing the video everything works great & there is no issue.
I export the video in 1080p fine, again, no issue using VLC.
Well, there is little issue, video does get slightly choppy very minimal.
And I found a fix for that in one of the sticky threads.
No biggie though, that's not my problem.

The problem is...............
When I upload to YouTube AND Vimeo....
This is what the video looks like..... wtf....

http://www.youtube.com …=hfKAKylDTgc&feature=plcp (external link)
I think it has to do with my import or output settings????

It's just a video of a car that I have for sale.
Nothing spectacular so don't get too crazy and critical...
I'm not trying to be artistic or Martin Scorsese or whatever.

I usually use iMovie and never have any issues at all.
Just I wish iMovie had more features and control like Final Cut Pro has.

Any advice?

This is my first attempt at making a video with something other than iMovie.
- 5D MK II

- 27" iMac
16gb Ram
2TB 7200 rpm hard drive
3.4 quad core processor

- Final Cut Pro7
(yeah I know it's old, but I don't know how to use it well enough to justify spending the money to upgrade yet)
(Plus I am just a photographer and have minimal use for video editing..)

Couple of things I would like to know:

- In what codec do you edit? Do you take the native h264 clips? Or converted them to ProRes?
- What are the export settings?

I guess your export settings from fcp 7 are wrong. (High bitrate, wrong codec.... or both)

Audio/Video Settings:
Sequence Preset: Custom (Canon 5D Mark II)
Capture Preset: Generic Capture Template
Device Control Preset: Non-Controllable Device
Video Playback: None
Audio Playback: Default

This is the specs on the sequence preset (I found the tutorial on youtube and copied that)
Frame Size: 1920 x 1080 P
Editing Timebase: 30 fps
Field Dominance: Upper (odd)
Pixel Aspect Ratio: Square
Anamorphic 16:9: Off
Video Processing: RGB Only
White Point: N/A
Compressor: H.264
Millions of Colors: (24 bit)
No Data Rate Limit
No Keyframes Set
Quality: 100
Audio Settings: 16-bit 44.100 kHz Stereo

To export the movie (this is probably where my problem is)

I just go to File > Export > Export to Quicktime.... Done

Couple of things.
In your sequence setting you have upperfield first, your footage has no fields.
It goes wrong with your export settings. I was just making some screenshots for you, one thing that isn't in my shots is that your framerate is 30fps, but that will be good on default.

01 Export using Quicktime Conversion

Just remember a couple of key elements:

1. Youtube and vimeo like H264 in bitrates at around 6000 kbs (you can go higher but this will bee enough)
2. Audio in aac in 44.1 and not 48 Khz sample rate. High bitrate recommended

This will work as basic export settings in all edit/video tools.

How did you get to 3 4 5 and 6?

I export to quicktime conversion and saved it like you did on #2, but it only plays the music.

I don't know how you got the menu on 3 4 5 and 6

that's very strange. The key is setting your video setting correct. So you can't change codecs or settings in the video....

Maybe try compressor and use the same settings there?
check out the steps here at vimeo, they have a short guide for almost any suite:

yea. you were almost there. just read that guide on editing 5D2 footage a little closer and keep everything the same codec. video is very fragile and if you dont keep some things consistent it has the potential to fall apart very quickly lol

for youtube the highly suggest chosing deinterlace in your export size settings if i remember right. its generally a good idea most of the time to make sure your footage shot in progressive isnt interlaced. unless i have been choosing that setting for the wrong reasons this whole time and seen no affect on my final product lol. im still learning as an editor. wish i learned more while i was learning video as i currently have almost 3 years experience working with video production for TV and like not even 6 months of experience or knowledge editing. editing is soo intimidating haha

Adaptive, Yes its much harder to do the edit thang than people give credit for. Just dont give up. It takes time and a lot of effort. Use this group for information, also look at palces like Creativecow.net They have open forums with pros answering questions. Maybe not as well as LEXY did, that was very nice of him to do that. Good Luck!

First step........ Take the lens cap off.

I have the same exact problem when i export..

what I usually do.

file
export using quicktime conversion
rename it what ever you want and click options
click settings
in the compression type folder, I use xdcam hd422 1080p30 (50mbs)
un-check the frame reordering box, select your desired frame rate
hit okay
click size in the old menu
check deinterlace source video
click save
save again.. this should take care of that glitching problem. it took care of mine when I exported footage shot with my 60D or 5d2.

also, for your sequence preset. when you drag your video clip onto the timeline, fcp will give you an option to match the sequence settings to the video clip. this will automatically change the sequence settings/quality to h264 and will match your frame rate as well.

edit: btw, the rx7 is sick! If I was in the market for one, I'd pick it up in a heartbeat.
