Canon 24-70 2.8 L zoom ring not smooth

Quick question.
I bought a used Canon 24-70 2.8 L from a large, reputable, and well-known vendor. The zoom ring feels much more "stiff" as I approach the wide end compared to the long end. Is this normal for this lens?

Perhaps it has just sat around for a while and will loosen up with some use.

Mine is pretty consistent throughout the range. However, it can feel stiffer if you are fighting gravity (e.g. lens pointed down and going from 24 towards 70).

I think it'll just take some getting used to. Seems to be loosening up a bit with usage. The first time I took it out of the box and gave it a twist, it felt almost gritty - but that feeling is gone now. Maybe the lubrication just needed to be re-distributed, I dunno.
