The Canon 1D Mark III will be a lot cheaper then a new Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II. Canon EOS 1Ds Mark III | 17-40mm f/4.0L | 70-200mm f/2.8L USM | 100mm f/2.8L IS Macro | 300mm f/4.0L IS

First, you need to know the basic, fundamental answer for any lens use or question, field of view (often called focal length). Until you know the field of view you want, there is no way you can decide what lens you want.

Following on from the quote above from Patrick, If you dont have a decent amount of good lenses, the 1D MK III is not going to go as well as a cheaper camera with a 70-200. The 1D is $7000 on amazon, the 70-200 is $2240.30. _______________ If i were youi would buy a 5dmk iii with 24-105($4300) and then the 70-200 (thats if you want to spend over 6and a half thousand dollars Huh? A 1DX is $7000. A used 1D III would be about $1,500. Mr. the Kid.
