Finding work, does it matter if professional websites have used your work?

When talking to editors for work, does it matter if your work has been used by professional websites in the past? Will it help you or hurt you to bring it up? I know your portfolio should do the talking but shouldn't your past work also do the talking?

I have had work on MLSsoccer and several MLS team's websites. Should I bring this up when talking to editors for work? Do they care if my work has been published or should they only care about my portfolio?

I would absolutely put in my resume where my work has been used. How can it hurt? Local shooter buddy of mine was interviewing for a job to handle a college's sports photography and the interviewer asked him where he might have seen some of his work before. This guy has had shots on the cover of SI, more than once and numerous other stuff, so where your work has been used absolutely matters. It's like any other experience on a resume, it shows you have what it takes to get the job done.
