2012 Nike US Open Surfing Championships...

Shot with fellow surfing photograher, patrickf117, this past weekend @ Surf City (Huntington Beach, CA)... Decent action 'on' and 'off' the shoreline... Hehehehhehhe... Used my 1D3 + 300 2.8L + Kenko Pro 2x TCon combo to get 'up close and personal' with the surfers... Gotta love capturing the facial expressions on these athletes... Classic stuff... Anyhoo... Nice shots.... too bad the competition doesn't look all that tough yet. I am also a little lost by the second shot... but hey, that is the thing about surfung, you take what you can get. Sometimes mother nature decides a lot of factors for you.

Thanks Mark... Shot #2 was right before he gulped some sea water... It wasn't pretty... But he got back out there and had a few more good sets...

NICE!!! You'll be there, soon enough... It'll be good to see familiar (and new) faces on Sunday... I'll be there prior to 7am... Don't know if you want to shoot at the same beach location, but for sure I'll be bringing a collapsible chair with the days' championship... Maybe even a cooler for us to have water/soda/snacks... Hehehhehehee...

Thanks for the comment fellas... kenwood33, I try not to go below 1/800sec... Ideally, 1/1000sec through 1/2500sec would be ideal... It just depends on much stoppage you want to get out of the fast moving subject(s)... Here's one @ 1/4000sec shutter speed:

Stunning photos, but just one "small" problem... can't the front part of the Dolce & Gabanna hat, if you know what I mean...

I saw the guy with the camo'd 600 up on the pier on Sunday I think. I didn't get to see the shooter in the D&G hat, though.
