Importance of backups... a local (to me) story...

And a reminder to all to have some level of redundancy for your work, its easy to say "this only happens to others", and I certainly wouldn't want to call a bride to say "about your wedding...."

Ouch. Original and backup stolen. That's rough.

Farking idiot. I keep memory cards on my body until the images are in offsite storage, which is typically done the day after a wedding, as well as the copies that are on my PC and on a disk in my shed.

Bad move on the photographer's part. Why didn't she at least keep a copy of the high quality JPEGs somewhere? I feel for the couples.

I tried to look this photographer up... I can't see any website or facebook profile for her wedding photography business... may very well be that her name isn't listed anywhere on her business site and that I have no luck finding her...

then I started thinking... no real proof she is a photographer... could someone go so far as to stage a theft to hide her horrible work?
and then I felt bad for thinking this...

either way, something terrible has happened to these couples...

Coincidentally, I just started a thread about backup without having read this. In my IT days, my IT manager had always stressed the triple-backup rule: one digital copy (usually with RAID) and two physical copies (DVDs back then) - one of which were offsite.
