Oh wow, that's cool Wayne!
My brother was in town during the NMRA event so he and I along with a friend of mine went out that Sunday for our motorsports speed fix. In the years past, he would be down during the Rolex 24 but this year decided to vacation a little later.
The next weekend for the NMCA, I wasn't doing anything so I went out on Saturday to check it out. Loved the full blown drag cars. Lot's of fun. Bradenton Motorsports Park is only about a half hour from my house, so it's a no brainer to go check out the speed and get some shots.
Thanks for the compliment!

Wow, great shots on your instagram page!! You were at the Rolex, too. Fantastic stuff!

Thanks, I appreciate it!

The last couple years, I've worked for the NMRA and NMCA's media team and helped cover the events. I have a bunch of friends that race in those series as well, so that makes it even more fun for me. I love going to the IMSA events as well. For those, I'm just a spectator there with friends, but hopefully one of these days I'll be able to get some work out of it too.

They're not action shots, but I did shoot my buddies car this weekend while it was at the track. The second photo was actually just a test shot to get the exposure for the sky. It was completely unintended, but I'll take it.

I looked around for a intro thread but couldn't find one. These are from Milan Dragway in SE Michigan. Milan used to be a very active drag strip hosting nationals back in the day. It went from NHRA to AHRA and now I think it's back again. We're hemmed in by roads and there isn't any room to expand, so we don't get many nitro burners. We do get alcohol funny cars and a few rails. Most of the dragsters run in pro class 1/8 mile or Gasser. The track hosts a lot of Old School and Nostalgia event which suits me, being as I'm old and most of my drag racing fandom was in the late 60's and early 70's.

Last year the track granted me an all-access media pass and I had to do some quick learning. I am not a pro, the branding on the photos is because the track's website links my Flickr albums from their media page and I needed something on them. These are embedded from Flickr, if anyone wants to see more.

Cheers!

Glad to see a little taste of home town area. Being from Toledo area, Milan was our hot spot. Even after I got married we would spend every Sunday there. Me, the wife, our son and the family dog would make a whole day of it.
I too am an old timer, turned 72 this year. I have now started going to Gainesville regularly and attend the Gatornationals every year.
Thanks for the memories! ;-)a
