Thanks for the Welcome and comments. I agree, when I get some time stitching these two would be good practice. My gaol is to upload better photos similar to what I seen on these forums.

Hello and welcome. I took some shots of our village as well and posted a couple of weeks ago. I found it kinda' cool to get in close to see some of the detail.

Thanks for the comments. There are some opportunities in the layout for some interesting shots. I'll have to use her layout aslong as the weather stays cold around here.

Thanks everyone.

Welcome to the forum! Very nice village. I love those setups. Thanks for sharing your photo's.

I didnt think to take some up close shots. Cool idea! I may give that a try. Hope you dont mind me sharing one of my villages. My daughter keeps rearranging them and playing with them though. LOL

Very interesting...

What's that all about...?
Until two Minutes ago, I never heard 'Dicken's Village'?

Is there a story behind this tradition?

Please someone tell me more about it.

Googling I only found sites selling these villages, but not explaining the history...

Here is the link to Dept. 56, the makers of the "villages".

Whatever you do, DO NOT let your wife start buying these.
They are an addiction. Soon you'll have houses, churches, shops, trees, fences, people and animals, street vendors, street lights (that light up), fake snow, etc. You will have to construct ever larger bases to display it all, as the new additions arrive. You will be re-arranging your house to make room for "the village" each December.
I can't even go near the corner of the attic where they are stored without breaking out in a cold sweat. The best Christmas ever was the year my wife said "I can't find a place to put "the village" this year, so we'll have to skip it. She has gone three years now without it coming out of the attic. She hasn't gone to any new release parties, or retired piece sales, or bought any on eBay.
But I know they're still there, in the back corner of the attic, mocking me. I know they're in there.

LOL...how true is that?! I have more but just didnt set it all up. I didnt want to overwhelm my husband this Christmas with all the decorations. I actually have another table with more houses too.

I dont know the history but they are darn cute!
