Last month CDS and I headed up to Montreal to do some shooting with IanD and SSim. Yes, another GCPS. We crossed the border into Canada and were drving through the farmlands when CDS spotted a cloud of birds off to the right. We pulled over - after some gentle encouragement from CDS - and got out the gear. This is when we noticed more clouds, and they darn near stretched from one horizon to the other.
Snow Geese.
Lots of them.
Out of all my shots I managed only 2 or 3 keepers, and this is a slight crop from the best.
On the way back home we drove slowly through these farmlands and kept an eye out for clouds. Luckily CDS also looked at the ground, since he spotted a field full of the geese. Again we pulled over and took some distant shots for a while. Someone was walking along the road along the field and managed to scare the geese.
When they flew off we discovered that there were a lot of geese. A whole lot. This is perhaps 1/20 of the geese present in that field, all flying off at once.
That's a lot of fertilizer.
