Kenko VS. Polaroid extension tubes

Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone can offer me some advice on which tubes to get? The Kenko are by far the most popular and while my budget allows for them, I want to be considerate of the people buying it for me as it's a gift.

I found the polaroid ones which are half the price and seem to have the same build with metal connectors and also allow for auto-focus when mounted, etc.

But I do not want to spend the money on the Polaroid's and then end up disappointed.

Any advice on this??

Honestly, I was unaware of the polaroid tubes when I got my kenko set. Everyone recommends them as they are very well built and a reputable brand. I know one of the macro masters on this forum has used or is using polaroid tubes and likely others use the polaroid tubes as well. Ive read they are built fairly well and are communicating just like the kenko set. Had I known about them when I was shopping I might have gone that route. I think the only difference may be construction quality with a slight edge in kenko's favor.

I would say go the polaroid route and save some money.

Try asking about them in the macro discussion section; I didn't know about them either until one of the frequent posters recommended them and told me that's what he uses.
