You guys are the most honest critics, and have given me the best help yet with LR3 -- pls tell me what you think of these two shots, taken today!

(This was fun to shoot, I could hear him crunching the bones - when he was done, he looked at me, and it was clear he was considering how I'd taste! I converted to B&W because I shot him through the fence of his cage, and couldn't get rid of the green markings the zooming through the fence caused).

Just learning and having fun!

Thye hawk needs more DOF to get him all in focus...the wolf needs to be farther from the fence for the fence to disappear.

I don't see an issue with a few feathers on the hawk being blurred a bit. You got the eyes and beak, and that's what's important. I can still see the fence a bit in the wolf shot, but it's not distracting. I think you did very well here.

And, yes. He was probably wondering how you'd taste with a little salt and some A-1 sauce.

Disagree 100% ... the DOF is just right. Hawk is sharp where it needs to be sharp. A smaller aperture will just reveal the background as unnatural.
