Another vote for Lensrentals.com... I've rented from them several times.. They always have well taken care of gear.

i would go with borrowlenses.com cause they're local for me...but for you though, i think you should really look around and see if there are any retail stores near you that rent lenses. since it sounds like you're just renting it for one event i think you'd end up saving more in the long run, especially if you end up renting multiple times

from lensrentals.com you're looking at $120 for one day...looking at two local spots for me you're talking $50 for a day(weekend)

if you're renting like 6/7 times from lensrentals.com you might as well just buy an f2.8 zoom

once you get into renting for longer periods of time then the online spots make way more sense

I like lensrentals.com because they allow more flexibility on the exact number of days you need the rental. In some circumstances, this can save a lot of money.

My local Calumet is best for me. When I need to rent anything it's usually for an event on the weekend and renting on Friday only counts as one day til it needs to be returned on Monday.
I'm already setup for several HS Football weekends for the 300mm f/2.8 IS at $70 a pop.

I've rented from borrowlenses before and liked them. If you "like" them on facebook they will let you know about the current deals. The reason I went with them and not lensrentals was because lensrentals didn't have 1 of the lenses I wanted to rent.

Everyday use: 7D2, 1.4x v3 Canon TC (sometimes the 2x v2 Canon TC), Canon 500mm f4 L IS USM; 6D, 24-105L

Out of curiosity, what lens did they not have?

Check camera stores in your area. Where I am, Dodd Camera rents cameras and lenses. Cameras are insanely priced but the lenses are very reasonable. Plus, if you decide to purchase, many local places will give you a credit of a part of the rental cost to apply to your purchase. If there wasn't somewhere local (shipping charges can easily double rental costs) then I would go with lensrentals as others have suggested.
