I posted this in the wedding forum as well but thought it might get some response here as well. Ok so last night I had my first wedding reception & exit featuring glow sticks - pretty cool effect but omg did I have a hard time capturing the actual look of the glow sticks! If i got my image without using my flash (which I bounce for the reception usually) I got the people lit well but you don't see the "glow" of the glow sticks - looks like the people are holding pink or purple wands. If I exposed with no flash I could get the glow of the sticks but you couldn't see the people (especially since the majority of the people were people of color. What's the trick to this? The exit was even more frustrating for me - the guests lined a sidewalk & waved their glow sticks but for me to get the bride & groom lit I used the videographers light, which, of course, lit them well enough but again, the magic of the glow stick light is lost.
