I VERY laboriously poured through the photos in the flickr sigma 50/1.4 and the canon 50/1.4 groups before making my purchase... the Canon's bokeh just always seemed too jittery for me. I decided to put the extra money on the Sigma and haven't been disappointed... I tried a friend's Canon and did not like it. The Sigma seems much more fortified as well... it's a tank.
