The game will last 7 Days and whoever can produce the best edited image (as judged by me) will be picked and it'll be their turn to post their unedited picture for all of us to take a crack at.

The participants must have their "Image Editing OK" turned on and they must provide at least a simple breakdown of how they edited the image, some entrants are a little vague on this point, please give us all details so we can learn and share tips. For instance if you use the unsharp mask tool or Smart Sharpen, provide us with the adjustments you used so others can try them out.

You can post multiple images, but the first image you post will be the one that is judged - all other images will be considered for knowledge and tip use only.
Feel free to comment and/or ask questions at any time. This is a good competition for learning new methods, so let's make it a bit more dynamic. I will be judging edits, not comments. Feel free to comment on the original image as well.

If you happen to be the winner of the game please start the next one with the title of the game and the following number. For example…the next game should read "Before & After #436."

Game ends Friday August 10th at 9am (during my cup of coffee) ;)

Adding the raw file is not a requirement. If you win a comp. and would like to post just the jpg that is fine--not everyone shoots raw or uses more complex raw editing software.

I'm not usually big on selective color, but that umbrella screamed for it.

De-sat top layer

I dont know why this kid is wondering around Salvador (Bahia) unattended.

Duplicate layer, mask child with umbrella, drop into one of my bahia photos, burn in shadow, mask and sharpen "lava jato" pole for more natural feel along the same plane as child with umbrella. Natureart in rain (finally used this plug in!!) Bounce to lightrom for level adjust, exposure drop and grain. Lower saturation... raise vibrance. Also changed the wb to a cooler setting.

Opened RAW file in ACR and adjusted vibrance and clarity. Small amount of sharpening. Opened in CS5 then duplicated BG. Shadow/Highlight adjustment, then cropped. I then did a LAB colour boost and Topaz de-noise adjustment. Then did Pixel bender oil paint in order to accentuate girl's hair. Smart sharpen and finish.

Started with finding a bit more of a splash for the boots, then a heavy rain for background curb/road...a sun shower...did a gradiant fill to blend it in...painted the girl back in...then a reverse selective color on the umbrella and painted in the dots that the rain washed off the umbrella...cropped and then a lens flare since the sun was coming out...

M_Six, Selective color works out well for this photo. Very fun edit. Well done.

Dawicka2, LOL oh my where has she wandered off to? Well done on the rain and the shadow, The lighting and everything seem to fit. I do enjoy these type of edits.

NigelD, I really want to do this to a whole photo myself one day and print it up, I really like the 'painting like' look, I think it would print up well on canvas. I think its really neat. Well done.

damccomb, how fun is this? I think I will have to recreate this myself on one of the series of photos I took this day with my daughter puddle jumping. you have a fantastic imagination and thats what I like to add to my photos w/ my children. Love it.

Well done everyone! These were some fantastically creative edits this time around.

This round goes to damccomb

Thank you Nigel, It was a series of pictures I took when I was keeping up with my 365, the one I ultimately used was this one, which I think I will 're-edit' now & frame up ;) tho I'll have to see if there is one of her in this location infront of the mailbox & flowers where I can see more of the top of the umbrella, for the rain washing the 'spots off' tho I'm going to do it a 'little differently' It's a great idea tho.
