Is there and big sharpness difference in the canon 300mm f2.8 is v1 and the non- is?
Thanks, going to end up buying one of these two.

The IS also has a better build and will still be serviced by Canon. The non-is will not be serviced unless you are a CPS member, and even then they may refuse. Take it from someone who was just burned on this, go with the IS. Richard

Bought a non-is a year ago and it had fungus to begin with, but dum@$$ me did not look as thoroughly as I should have and I finally noticed it when I went to sell the lens. Sold it for a $1k hit....guy was able to send it to Canon CPS and had it fixed for ~$350-400. Richard
