An edge-on spiral galaxy in Coma Berenices.
40D and ED127 (950mm f/7.5) on CG5-GT mount. Unguided.
158 x 30s frames (1hr 24m) ISO 800. 12 darks.
No flats (as my flats turned out to be "wobblies")

Very nice Steve! Great color! Question:why not longer guided exposures?

Good question. At the moment I'm just getting more enjoyment out of the simplistic setup.
I design embedded systems (things like telescope mount controllers) on a PC during the day, so going out in the cold and doing essentially the same thing to setup a guiding laptop isn't that much of a break. Even though I know I could be getting better images, the more automated it is, the less fun I get out of it. I'd rather spend that time driving out to dark sky.
I'm planning on building something more permanent over the summer and will set that up with guiding, but for now, enjoyment takes precedence over image quality.

Lovely shot considering unguided and such short exposures. Get guiding, mate! :)

Good answer Steve! It's got to be fun above all else, otherwise...it's work!
