First not made in Japan~!

Bought the 40mm pancake today....I am kinda surprise to find out the lens is made in Malaysia not Japan. This lens is definitely worth the money, It is sharp wide open and build quality is great. If you are thinking about it.....LEAVE YOUR HOUSE NOW~!

The "kit" lenses have been made in other places for a while now.


Cameras: 7D2, S100
Lenses: 17-55 f/2.8 IS USM, 18-135 STM, 24-70 f/4L IS USM, 50 f/1.4 USM,70-300L IS USM

Yeah, the expensive ones are still made in Japan. That doesn't mean that you can't get an excellent lens made elsewhere as well (please excuse the double negative).

Hmmm - you've triggered the pedant in me.

No apology is needed as the usage is quite correct.
What you have written conveys a different meaning from that which would have followed from "that does mean you can...".

The first leaves the possibilty of getting an excellent lens from other than Japan open; the second declares it to be a certainty.
