Good exposure and composition, I just don't think it's the kind of subject matter that would win a contest. I think it's a great shot, but in all honesty I would not vote for it in a contest.

I agree with TacC, the background is too busy as well. Maybe if you had a close up of her face through the bubble.

I like the 2nd one much better and might have a chance. But not with the selective coloring. I would do it in color.

I like the first, show's some un-expected action.... when looking thru National Geographic I don't want to see cute images....I prefer to look at the images that show the "whole action"
my 2 cents.... :)
