Since facebook forced the timeline on everyone and mine became active on the 5th of august, I had to get some quick options ready to use as a timeline cover photo, because even though I dislike the change, I'd prefer it to look good at least.
These things are supposed to be 851 x 315 pixels, and I guess we all know better than to let any website do our resizing for us.
Selecting images for those odd dimensions presented me with a bit of a challenge; most of my shots are framed to be in a 3 x 2 aspect ratio with something like a golden mean, rule of thirds or any kind of composition in mind, so not many of them allow for cropping so drastically. I'm not a very avid panorama shooter either, and I don't usually frame wide enough to be able to crop about 70% of the frame away and still have a main subject.
Eitherway, I wanted to get some sort of inspirational thread going and see what all the good people came up with. I've seen some great and funny uses that also incorporate the profile pic in it, but haven't been able to come up with something like for myself yet ^^
Here's three options I made last night that I will probably cycle through within the next few days. The first one is just one of my latest shots that did allow a crop, and the other ones are more abstract fillers, avoiding the heavy greens by using B&W.
