Has anyone used a EOS 5D Mark III with a EF 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6L IS USM.

have you had any issues? I have the lens but was worried that the lens would not be 100% compatible

I don't have neither the camera nor the lens, but exactly what is it you fear would not be compatible? Canon EOS cameras tend to work, at least in some way, with virtually every EF lens ever made.

I use the EF 100-400 mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM with my 7D. The age difference (counting month when they hit the market) between the two is even larger, but they work together. I even have an old EF 35-135 mm f/4-5.6 USM which also works with the 7D.

I am a pure novice and "some guy" at work claimed to know a bit about this stuff as I was looking at the 5D and he went on and on, and suggested they would not work due to the difference in size of some part? I apologise for the complete lack of real facts in this post but i was more looking for someone who has used then together or might just know to say Yes or No and put this to rest.

I did look up on a site and they said it would work, but another site did not list that lens and the camera as a possible solution, so wanted to make sure.

I suspect "some guy" is confusing EF-S with EF lenses. That lens should work just fine on a 5D3.

Seem this combo is working normally for me so far.

I don't have any shoot for 5D3 or 28-300L yet, as I'm too busy using 5D3 + 85L

I finally found out the term he was on about, it was the sensor, the fact that Sensor was Canon Full frame (5DM3) vs. Canon APS-C (1.6x) (20d) currently I have a 20d and he suggested the difference in the sensor would not allow the lens to work? Guess he was wrong.

Thanks for all the replies.

Yet, it was wrong, too.

EF lenses work on any Canon EOS cameras, Full frame, APS-C and APS-H.

It won't be able to utilize all cross-type focus points. That's closest thing to not 100% compatible.
