Kenko VS. Polaroid tubes

Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone can offer me some advice on which tubes to get? The Kenko are by far the most popular and while my budget allows for them, I want to be considerate of the people buying it for me as it's a gift.

I found the polaroid ones which are half the price and seem to have the same build with metal connectors and also allow for auto-focus when mounted, etc.

But I do not want to spend the money on the Polaroid's and then end up disappointed.

Any advice on this??

Personnally, because there are no optics involved I do not see the need to purchase the Kenko tubes when there are plenty of similar alternatives at much lower cost. Some are even cheaper than the polaroids. IQ should not be affected by using cheaper tubese but one does need to ensure that they get reasonable quality variant to avoid issues with sloppy mounts, baffles, internal reflections...The cheap versions seem to give option for metal or plastic mounts, I chose the metal mount version from China of Ebay seller and so far I am quite happy with them not found any defects.
