My EF-S 18-55mm lens is stuck. It will not turn smoothly (I have to try hard to turn it) from between 18 and 35mm, if that makes any sense. If it doesn't I can get a video of me turning it... I am so sad :( it's the only lens I have left :(

Has this happened to anyone else? How do I fix it?

That's just a stock kit lens and I'd say try to take it apart and see if you can find anything loose. You can get another for $85 or so used.

For whatever reason, I've seen more gritty, stuck kit lenses than any other Canon lens. I'm not sure if it's due to loose sealing/interals or what. The price to repair will likely exceed to price of a used model.

You can either live with it, buy a used one from the forums, or use it as an excuse to upgrade your kit lens. :)

I had 3 others, car was broken in to in June and they were stolen :( so I am saving to rebuild and expand my arsenal.

LUCKILY the 18-55 was under the same warranty as the camera and I got it replaced for free :)
