^^^ Bazinga!!!

I had no idea it had gotten that dirty (turns out the auto clean somehow got turned off on the 5D2) and I think I had it set to F11 for this series of shots and finally saw them when I merged in PS. Nice thing was almost all of them were perfect little circles of the same size so I set the healing brush size and went to town. There's still some left over but you gotta peep to find them; this was enough for display purposes.

I remember a thread a few days back that talked about a lot of dust on the sensor and I thought itd be cool to put up a before and after of my own :)

Stopping down will make the spots more pronounced. So, are you saying that if you just let the ultrasonic sensor cleaning that happens every time you turn your camera on or off do its thing, all that dust goes away? That's a LOT of yuck on the sensor.

Out of curiosity - why f/11?

Stop down to f/22 and point at the uniform blue sky and take an image - you'll get a nice "crap map" for purposes of cleaning and evaluating the results.

No, no .. I meant after cleaning (with Copper Hill), I was going through the menu and saw that the auto clean was off .. and I don't know when that happened. I do change lenses a lot and get lots of dust all the time; you should see my 5Dc :) So I was just surprised to see that much crap on the 5D2 because it never gets this bad; I can only surmise the auto clean being turned off resulted in such an accumulation.

The auto clean only goes so far - you will get dust eventually; auto clean just delays the cleaning process by getting rid of the lighter stuff that can be dislodged by the ultrasonic motion or something ..

Now if you really wanna get technical, I HATE that dust in my viewfinder .. and no amount of blowing with a blower or can will get rid of it. I know it does not affect any images, but it hurts my brain :)

P.S. F11 was me fooling around with (learning) hyper focal calculations. I know the F22 method to check for dust :)

Go to a camera store or craft store near by and get a small camel hair brush and use that for brushing off dust on the camera and the viewer . Works real well for the viewer and lenses also . But i find it comes in handy for multiple chores of cleaning .

I like the second one. Good color and exposure on the sky and trees. I find your attempt at artistic use of sensor dust over the top though. :)
