Weird File names from Camera. Problem or not?

My first post!! Now to make a good impression...

My problem is more of a nuisance, but I would like to be sure it isn't a precursor to anything more serious.

I am using a 20D, and all of my photos have been coming of the camera named "_MG_XXXX.xxx" instead of "IMG_XXXX.xxx" I updated the firmware, which didn't fix anything, so I reset all the settings and voila! all fixed. It turns out the problem is that when I shoot using Adobe RGB as the colour space, the file name becomes _MG instead of IMG. Like I said, this is more of a nuisance than a problem, but I am concerned that it is a precursor of something else going wrong with the camera. Does anybody have any similar experiences with this, and if so, did it ever lead to problems? Or should I just learn to live with it?

You've set your color space to AdobeRGB instead of sRGB. That's all. When you output jpegs with aRGB, Canon cameras drop the I and replace it with a _. Don't worry about it. (Or change your color space back)

This is totally normal.... the _MG_XXXX.xxx has something to do with the fact that you set the camera to save the jpegs in Adobe RGB. My 10D does the same thing. As to why this is so... I'm not all too sure.

Thanks for the speed of response. I'm happy to see that this appears to be normal. I suppose it could just be a way for the photographer to know which pics are sRGB and which are Adobe RGB just by the file name.

I believe the reason for those filenames is because of some international standard, but don't quote me on that.
