Rick, there is one user in the EOS forum reporting a shooting issue. Something like the camera is acting like its in bulb mode or something.

I'm still not convinced on upgrading the firmware, most of it's improvements are on video... Canon seems to have the goal of producing VIdeo DSLRs that can take photos, I prefer the opposite.

I had a small issue looking for the firmware file. I have Mountain Lion on my iMac and when selecting your OS system and type the new firmware does not show up under Mountain Lion BUT it shows up in OS Lion. I just downloaded it from there and install on my camera with no issues.

The EOS utility works for you in Mountain Lion (Mac OS10.8)??? I'd be very surprised to hear that. See my post #549 on this page in this thread:

BTW. I reported it to Canon. It's a known issue.

Thanks for the heads-up Lou, I had not seen anything and was notified by Canon so I posted it. If the moderators would like they can combine this thread with the one that is earlier than mine or simply delete it.

you don't need EOS utility for the firmware update, just copy the .FIR file on your flash card. Than insert the card on the 7D. Put it on "P" mode, turn it on, in the menu go to the firmware section than click on "set".
