I've done the update on BOTH my 7Ds. Seems like some pretty neat features.

Couple questions on the new features:

1) Given that I shoot with 2 7Ds, I was happy to see that I can now customize my file names. However, given that I shot with 2 of them, I haven't figured out yet how to set the file names so that I don't end up with issues in naming due to the same name. Any thoughts on this?

2) Is it possible to upload into the camera somehow lens correction information for non-Canon lens? I shoot all Sigma, so while the in-camera editing looks really nice, I don't have way to create a profiles for CA, peripheral illumination and things like that (always my first step in LR so it makes a difference to me).

Make one camera use "7D1" for the base filename (instead of "IMG") and make the other camera use "7D2".

Set the file names for the two cameras to ABCD and DCBA, or perhaps more sensibly 7D01 and 7D02.

No, you got to stick with Canon's EF or EF-S lenses to have any use for lens abberation corrections in the camera. It's rather obvious that Canon can't keep track of all other manufacturer's lenses and their inherent problems.

OK, beaten by a split second.

That's what I figured - on both accounts.

Canon EOS 7D (Gripped) | Canon EOS 7D | 50mm f1.4 EF USM | 17-40mm EF/L f4.0 | 28-135mm EF f3.5-5.6 USM | 24-105mm EF/L f4 |70-200mm EF/L f4 | 35mm f2 EF| 40mm f2.8 EF| 600ex-RT | 580ex II

This won't work if you shoot RAW. The last character is changed to an underscore and you will end up with 7D0 and 7D0. This is supposed to help you sort RAW from JPEGs but that's silly since you can sort by file type. But I guess many people hide their file extensions for some reason. I would name mine 7D10 and 7D20.

It gets even messier if you use AdobeRGB: it puts an underscore at the front of the file name, leaving the possibility of "_D2_"

Oh yes it does. RAW files are characterized by their file name extension being CR2, not by characters in the file name.
But it doesn't work if you select the option to set the first three characters, then let the camera fill in L, M or S for the image size. In that case you have to set the number of the camera in the first three characters.

It is, on the other hand, correct that if you use Adobe RGB, then the first character is replaced by an underscore, as was pointed out above.

lol. Sorry. My bad. That's the distinction I meant to make, but for some reason I wrote RAW and not Adobe. lol
