It has been many years since I have been to the Air and Water show and this will be the first since I have taken up photography. Does anyone have any recommendations for the best locations? I know the beaches (North Avenue and Oak Street) fill up, but I don't care about the Water Show portion of the show, so any suggestions on locations for getting good shots of the Air show would be much appreciated.

Also, I just want to mention the gear I will be using to make sure it will do the trick. I will be rockin' the 7D with the 70-200 f/2.8L IS. Will 200mm be enough reach or should I use my 70-300 IS (non-"L") for the extra 100mm?

Since you aren't sharing images, I have to move this thread to "T. Talk".

And see the "Airshow guys - prop freeze?" & other links in post #2 of: Shooting airshows in Manual

You will see most of the photogs at North Ave. beach right infront of castaways as its show center. Other spots may work but that is where I usually park for the show.

Your 70-200 may be enough for some but Calumet rents the 1.4x for ~15 bucks which is really nice to have for some extra reach. The 2x is a similar price but I have yet to have a good experience with the 2x. (some people post great examples though).
