Waiting is the hardest part

When it comes to photographing trains. Sometimes you get a whole bunch in a short time, and other times, its pretty hit and miss, save for passenger trains, and they can be late too, as this one was, and every minute late past sunrise, means a little less ideal light.

these are nice shots, i like the color/perspective and composition in both of them. do you ever get hassled by the police when taking train photos?

I liked the ones you did at sunset. Maybe it's time to sleep in in the morning?

Only once, and it was the first time I went and shot railroads seriously, that I got hassled, by a town cop and a ticket agent at a passenger station. Otherwise all the staff of the railroads wave at me, the CN police officer even came over once to see how I was doing, when shooting at a station. The local shortline guys recognize my car now and just wave, and some of the engineers do a double take, when they see my lawn chair, since I use the downtime to catch up on my reading.

Thanks, but I have 4 young kittens here and sometimes leave just for the peace and quiet sitting beside a train track affords.....LOL
