I've never shot boxing before and now have a new found respect for boxing photographers. It seems to me that it's pure luck.

I was contacted by a newspaper (out of town) to shoot a boxing match. All they cared about was the main event, so I got there early and practiced on the earlier matches.

You did the right thing. Sometimes it takes a bit of warming up to get "in the zone".

Nice shots for your first outing.

Great shots. What settings did you use? I shot a boxer sparring in a ring a few days ago and out of over 100, maybe 30 were usable. I found 2.8 to be the sweet spot with no flash. I am stuck on which ISO and shutter now.

The settings will change from venue to venue. You've gotta use what works- a dingy gym will require different settings than say professional sports venue.

Thanks! Luckily it was lit for TV so they had a good bit of lighting up. Just needed to set white balance and I was good to go. :)

Nice work Michael!

Guy on the left in #3 doesn't look like a pro boxer... :)

The guy on the right might have thought the same :)

Nice shots really love the flying sweat and the pained expressions. Great work.
