signing photos for sale

Hello.

I'm beginning to prep for selling my images for the first time and read posts here and elsewhere regarding signing. I bought the more than once recommended Micron pen, which works fine on paper but not on my photos. The ink does not transfer easily to the surface. Scratched the paper even.

Does anyone have any suggestions for other pens?

Metallic Sharpie?

Believe I'd read not to use Sharpies. Can't recall why, but issues I remember with various pens in general were drying time, fading, adherence issues, etc.

I sign the mat, not the photo.

I put my signature on in photoshop

Sign the back.

I appreciate the feedback but I've already decided that I'm signing the images and penciling the subjects and titles on the mats.

So, again, pens?

There are archival ink felt tips available at art stores such as Blick.
I expect that they could be found on-line as well.

I assume the person who said signing damages photos simply meant that as his opinion about aesthetics/perceived value and was not refering to any chemical or otherwise literal damage?

Blick sounds like it might be my answer.

I use these....available in a couple different thicknesses as well as colors. I use the metallic silver one. Haven't had any problems and have been using them for just over a year now.
